David Timlin (b. Northern Ireland, 1980) graduated form University of Wales, Newport with a BA (Hons) in Documentary Photography in 2004. After returning to Northern Ireland he completed a Masters in Film and Visual Studies at Queens University, Belfast graduating in 2009. Timlin has exhibited nationally including The Old Truman Brewery Gallery, Brick Lane, London and The Naughton Gallery at Queens, Belfast. His body of work ‘Belfast: Work in Progress’ is held in the Belfast Exposed archive. In 2014, Timlin completed a residency at Belfast Exposed as part of their Summer Residency Programme and will exhibit as part of their volunteer programme in October. As an artist he pursues long-term photographic projects that are embedded in the documentary aesthetic. These projects seek to open a dialogue with the viewer by drawing attention to overlooked aspects of the urban and traditional landscape.
